I went into the medical profession with perverse preconceptions about the patient-doctor power dynamic prevalent back where I come from, which were thankfully shattered soon after starting my education in the UK. It is because of my resentment towards this approach, and the empathy I feel towards so many patients affected by this, I believe that compassionate care should be part of every healthcare curriculum, and be part of medical education beyond universities.
