My name is Demetra Kyprianou and I am a second-year medical student at St George’s, University of London (MBBS4) delivered by University of Nicosia. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Queen Mary University of London during which I undertook a research project on the Clinical Potential of Therapeutic Monoclonal Antibodies. Experiencing medicine in its clinical aspect made me realize the need for a turn towards a more patient-centered care, in which multidisciplinary teams are established in every medical sector to maximize the effectiveness and quality of care. Joining the International Institute for Compassionate Care early on in my medical career will give me the opportunity to adopt a compassionate medical practice but also contribute in the implementation of the Institute’s mission and the expansion of the team in a global level.
