Stephen trained as a general and mental health nurse, and worked in palliative care for fifteen years. He collaborated with NHS Quality Improvement Scotland to develop national palliative care standards, and is currently Lead Nurse and Senior Lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University. With NHS Lothian’s Leadership in Compassionate Care programme, he developed relationship-centred care and appreciative inquiry practices that have been implemented in a range of care settings both nationally and internationally.
